The most important thing to research for understanding the upside potential<\/strong><\/span> of Ameriwest Critical Metals (CSE: AWCM)<\/strong> is all court documents related to Kinross Copper<\/strong> (a wholly owned subsidiary of multi-billion-dollar<\/span> Kinross Gold<\/strong> that was set up in the early 1990s to develop what is now AWCM’s 100%-owned Bornite Copper Project<\/strong>) and the State of Oregon<\/strong>. Kinross<\/strong> spent a fortune fighting in state court for six years trying to obtain a water discharge permit<\/strong><\/span> to develop<\/span> Bornite<\/strong>. Kinross<\/strong> wanted to develop<\/span> Bornite<\/strong> because its copper grades<\/strong><\/span> are extremely high<\/strong><\/span>, and it held all<\/strong><\/span> other federal<\/strong> and state permits<\/strong> needed to develop<\/strong><\/span> the mine.<\/p>\n\n

Oregon’s Three Basin Rule<\/strong> didn’t<\/strong><\/span> allow any new<\/span> water discharge permits<\/span><\/strong> to be granted<\/strong><\/span> under any circumstances<\/strong><\/span>… even if the water<\/strong><\/span> from the mine would be as clean<\/strong><\/span> as, or cleaner<\/strong><\/span> than, the natural water<\/strong><\/span> in the river.<\/p>\n\n

AWCM acquired 100%<\/span><\/strong> of Bornite<\/strong> in November 2025.<\/p>\n\n

On December 2, 2025, the Three Basin Rule was quietly revised<\/span> to allow<\/span> DEQ to issue new<\/span> water quality permits<\/span> that allow facilities to discharge<\/span> to these basins.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The rule<\/strong> is no longer as strict<\/strong><\/span> as it was in the 1990s, and there is now an opening<\/strong><\/span> that could allow Bornite<\/strong> to be developed<\/strong><\/span>, and the market<\/strong> hasn’t<\/strong><\/span> figured it out<\/strong><\/span> yet.<\/p>\n\n

This is still years away from even being an issue for AWCM, as right now the company is focused on getting Bornite’s historical high-grade<\/span> copper<\/span>\/gold<\/span>\/silver<\/span> resource up to NI 43-101 standards.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

By the time Bornite<\/strong> is being talked about daily in the mainstream media<\/strong><\/span> in the years ahead… AWCM’s market cap<\/strong> is unlikely<\/strong><\/span> to still be US$5.77 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n
