{"id":5018,"date":"2024-02-11T10:11:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-11T15:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inflation.us\/news\/?p=5018"},"modified":"2025-11-11T03:49:26","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T08:49:26","slug":"nvidia-market-cap-surpasses-energy-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inflation.us\/news\/articles\/nvidia-market-cap-surpasses-energy-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Nvidia Market Cap Surpasses Energy Sector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:sans-serif;\"><strong>Nvidia (NVDA)&#8217;s market cap<\/strong> has <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>surpassed<\/strong><\/span> the <strong>energy sector<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:sans-serif;\">The <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>problem<\/strong><\/span> with this is&#8230; not only does the <strong>energy sector <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\">earn 7.73X larger net income<\/span><\/strong>, but if <strong>NVDA&#8217;s GPUs<\/strong> being sold were actually <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>being used<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>not being hoarded<\/strong><\/span> by big tech companies that don&#8217;t know what to do with them and are buying them to boost their share prices pretending they are developing something useful&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:sans-serif;\">We would already be seeing a <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>significant increase<\/strong><\/span> in <strong>U.S. electricity consumption<\/strong> equal to a city the size of <strong>Phoenix<\/strong>, which we <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>haven&#8217;t<\/strong><\/span> seen yet.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:sans-serif;\">If <strong>NVDA<\/strong> were to <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>grow large enough<\/strong><\/span> to justify its current <strong>market cap<\/strong>, <strong><span style=\"color:#2980b9;\">future<\/span> U.S. electricity consumption<\/strong> from <strong>GPUs<\/strong> will become so <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>large<\/strong><\/span> that there will be <strong>electricity <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\">shortages<\/span><\/strong> and we will be <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>forced<\/strong><\/span> to <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>rebuild our infrastructure<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>requiring<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>massive investment<\/strong><\/span> into the <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>development<\/strong><\/span> of <strong><span style=\"color:#27ae60;\">new<\/span> precious<\/strong> and <strong>base metal mines<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:sans-serif;\"><i>Past performance is not an indicator of future returns.
