{"id":7716,"date":"2025-04-05T16:46:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-05T20:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inflation.us\/news\/?p=7716"},"modified":"2026-04-05T00:30:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T04:30:07","slug":"is-a-tether-shareholder-in-charge-of-tariffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inflation.us\/news\/articles\/is-a-tether-shareholder-in-charge-of-tariffs\/","title":{"rendered":"Is a Tether Shareholder in Charge of Tariffs?!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;\">We thought it was <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>shady<\/strong><\/span> in December when <strong>Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick<\/strong> <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>made a huge profit<\/strong><\/span> on his <strong>Rumble (RUM)<\/strong> shares that he <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>purchased<\/strong><\/span> for <strong>$2 per share<\/strong> in the <strong>SPAC deal<\/strong> that <strong>Cantor Fitzgerald <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\">promoted<\/span><\/strong> and then <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>resold<\/strong><\/span> these shares to <strong>Tether<\/strong> for <strong>$7.50 per share<\/strong>. After all, <strong>Lutnick<\/strong> is the one <strong>Wall Street <\/strong>figure who has come out and said that <strong>Tether<\/strong> is <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>legit<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>fully backed <\/strong><\/span>even though it is <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>unaudited<\/strong><\/span> and there is <strong><span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\">no<\/span> <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\">proof<\/span><\/strong> of what its <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>reserves<\/strong><\/span> are, and we have <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>no <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>idea<\/strong><\/span> what its <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>liabilities<\/strong><\/span> are. There has even been some <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>speculation<\/strong><\/span> that <strong>Lutnick<\/strong> may <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>own a 5% stake<\/strong><\/span> in <strong>Tether<\/strong> through his <strong>Cantor Fitzgerald<\/strong>, although at his <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>confirmation<\/strong><\/span> hearing in January&#8230; <strong>Lutnick<\/strong> said he <strong><span style=\"color:#27ae60;\">held<\/span> <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\">no<\/span> equity<\/strong> in <strong>Tether<\/strong>, but did <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>own<\/strong><\/span> a <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>convertible note<\/strong><\/span> in <strong>Tether<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;\">Today, <strong>Lutnick<\/strong> has become the man <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>in charge<\/strong><\/span> of <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>implementing<\/strong><\/span> the <strong>tariffs<\/strong> that are <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>disrupting<\/strong><\/span> the entire world. Although we <strong><span style=\"color:#2980b9;\">fully support<\/span><\/strong> these <strong>tariffs<\/strong> or anything else <strong>President Trump<\/strong> wants to do to <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>burst<\/strong><\/span> our <strong>tech <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\">bubble<\/span><\/strong>, <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>strengthen<\/strong><\/span> our <strong>manufacturing base<\/strong>, <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>increase production<\/strong><\/span> of <strong>critical minerals<\/strong>, <strong><span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\">reduce<\/span> housing <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\">costs<\/span><\/strong>, and <strong><span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\">lower<\/span> income\/wealth <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\">inequality<\/span><\/strong>&#8230; maybe it <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>isn&#8217;t <\/strong><\/span>a good idea to have <strong>Lutnick<\/strong> <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>in charge<\/strong><\/span> of <strong>tariffs<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;\">Is it possible <strong>Lutnick<\/strong> originally did <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>own a 5% stake<\/strong><\/span> in <strong>Tether<\/strong> but <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>changed<\/strong><\/span> it to a <strong>convertible note<\/strong> when he realized he would be part of the <strong>Trump Administration<\/strong>?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;\">When did he <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>first<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong> acquire<\/strong><\/span> this <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>5% stake<\/strong><\/span>? Did he really pay <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>$600 million<\/strong><\/span> for it? Was it <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>given<\/strong><\/span> to him for <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>free<\/strong><\/span> to try and <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>boost<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>confidence<\/strong><\/span> in <strong>Tether<\/strong> and <strong><span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\">artificially<\/span> <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\">inflate<\/span> Crypto<\/strong>?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;\">If it really was a <strong>convertible note<\/strong> the whole time why would <strong>Tether<\/strong> need to <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>borrow money <\/strong><\/span>from <strong>Cantor Fitzgerald<\/strong> considering the <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>huge reserves<\/strong><\/span> it is supposed to have?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;\">If <strong>Tether<\/strong> turns out to be a <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>massive <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>fraud<\/strong><\/span> what effect will this have on the <strong>U.S. economy<\/strong> considering <strong>Lutnick<\/strong> is in such a <strong><span style=\"color:#2980b9;\">prominent<\/span> position<\/strong>??? If <strong>Tether <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\">goes bust<\/span><\/strong> will <strong>Lutnick<\/strong> <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>push to use<\/strong><\/span> <strong>tax dollars<\/strong> to <strong><span style=\"color:#27ae60;\">bailout<\/span> Tether<\/strong>? Has <strong>Tether<\/strong> become a <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>systemic <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>risk <\/strong><\/span>where if it <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>failed<\/strong><\/span> it would <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>bring down<\/strong><\/span> <strong>Cantor Fitzgerald<\/strong> and many other <strong>Wall Street firms<\/strong>?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Eric Sprott&#8217;s daughter<\/strong> was once <span style=\"color:#2980b9;\"><strong>married<\/strong><\/span> to <strong>Neal Cabot Ohm<\/strong>. He works for <strong>Lutnick<\/strong> as <strong>Managing Director<\/strong> of <strong>Newmark<\/strong> a sister firm of <strong>Cantor Fitzgerald<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Eric Sprott<\/strong> previously sued <strong>Neal Cabot Ohm <\/strong>for sneaking into his <strong>daughter&#8217;s safety deposit box<\/strong> and <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>stealing<\/strong><\/span> all of her <span style=\"color:#f1c40f;\"><strong>gold<\/strong><\/span>!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Lutnick&#8217;s firm <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\">hired<\/span><\/strong> <strong>Neal Cabot Ohm <\/strong>after these <span style=\"color:#e74c3c;\"><strong>allegations<\/strong><\/span> were already <span style=\"color:#27ae60;\"><strong>reported<\/strong><\/span> in the <strong>media<\/strong>.
