QI Materials (CSE: QIMC) gained by 17.65%<\/span><\/strong> today to $0.60 per share<\/strong> after announcing that its latest brand-new<\/strong><\/span> drill hole DDH-26-05<\/strong> is the company's strongest<\/span> overall<\/span> drill hole<\/strong> to date based on the first<\/span> 300 metres<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

QIMC discovered<\/span> 23.5% H\u2082<\/strong> at only 170 metres<\/strong> vs. the previous record hole DDH-26-04<\/strong> reaching a slightly higher 24.3% H\u2082<\/strong>, but it took until 707 metres<\/strong>. The first<\/span> 300 metres<\/strong> of DDH-26-04<\/strong> peaked at only 16.0% H\u2082<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

DDH-26-05<\/strong> also has a much higher<\/span> hit rate<\/strong>. About 74%<\/strong><\/span> of DDH-26-05<\/strong> readings were ≥1% H\u2082<\/strong>, versus about 37%<\/strong><\/span> for DDH-26-04<\/strong>. That's a major<\/strong><\/span> improvement<\/strong><\/span> in the frequency\/continuity<\/strong> of natural hydrogen<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n

This new<\/span> hole<\/strong> had a sustained<\/span> ~54 metre hydrogen corridor<\/span><\/strong>, from 143–197 metres<\/strong>, rather than just one spectacular reading. At about 164–167 metres<\/strong>, they encountered<\/strong><\/span> a mud seam\/void<\/strong>, lost water return<\/strong>, and detected elevated<\/span> hydrogen<\/span><\/strong> in the ambient air<\/strong><\/span> at the rig<\/strong>. The company interprets<\/span> this as free gas flowing<\/span> from the formation into the borehole.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The free-gas zone<\/strong><\/span> is bracketed<\/strong><\/span> by huge<\/span> readings<\/strong>: 20.8% H\u2082<\/strong> at 158 metres<\/strong> (above<\/span><\/strong> it) and 23.5%<\/strong> at 170 metres<\/strong> (below<\/strong><\/span> it). That makes the structural<\/strong><\/span> interpretation<\/strong> much more<\/span> compelling<\/strong> than an isolated<\/strong><\/span> high<\/span> reading<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

QIMC<\/strong> is still<\/span> drilling<\/span><\/strong> at DDH-26-05<\/strong> and will be drilling<\/strong><\/span> the hole<\/strong> down to 900 metres<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n
