TRT: Possible Rivian R2 Connection
If you read Trio-Tech International (TRT)'s press release from Wednesday, we know that TRT developed a breakthrough "Dynamic HTOL Electric Vehicle Power Module Test System" in 2023 for Silicon Carbide (SiC) / Gallium Nitride (GaN) Power Modules used in the electric vehicle market.
We heard back then that they shipped initial units to Infineon for validation. Infineon is the world's largest producer of automotive semiconductors, and it sounds like Wednesday's announcement is a contract with Infineon for an automotive program that is about to rapidly ramp up this year.
The timing lines up perfectly with this:
"Infineon Technologies will supply power semiconductors, including HybridPACK™ Drive G2 SiC and Si modules, for Rivian's upcoming R2 platform starting in 2026. These components, specifically for traction inverters, aim to enhance the R2's efficiency and range. The deal also includes AURIX™ TC3x microcontrollers and OPTIREG™ power management ICs. This partnership aims to enhance the efficiency, range, and performance of the next-generation electric SUVs' traction inverters."
This is exactly what TRT's "Dynamic HTOL Electric Vehicle Power Module Test System" was designed for!
