Is Medicure the Next GW Pharmaceuticals?

The FDA 100% wants there to be an FDA approved pharmaceutical-grade version of pyridoxal-5′-phosphate (PLP) to treat PNPO deficiency, and that’s why we believe Medicure (TSXV: MPH) has a 100% chance of FDA approval for MC-1 less than eleven months from today. The closest equivalent to this that we can remember is when the FDA decided to approve Epidiolex, a pharmaceutical-grade CBD treatment for childhood epilepsy. We already know today that pyridoxal-5′-phosphate (PLP) works to treat PNPO deficiency, but babies today are being forced to take unregulated pyridoxal-5′-phosphate (PLP) supplements. This is the same as taking CBD that you get at your local smoke shop. The CBD you get varies greatly from batch to batch and manufacturer to manufacturer. The FDA wanted a pharmaceutical-grade version of CBD that is always safe and consistent, which is why they approved Epidiolex to stop seizures in babies. We know that pyridoxal-5′-phosphate (PLP) stops seizures in babies. Medicure (TSXV: MPH)’s MC-1 is a pharmaceutical-grade version of pyridoxal-5′-phosphate (PLP), just as Epidiolex is a pharmaceutical-grade version of CBD.

There is no placebo group in Medicure’s Phase 3 trial taking place right now.

Instead, they are using a historical control group of babies who took nothing at all.

It would be too dangerous to have a placebo group of babies not taking any form of pyridoxal-5′-phosphate (PLP).

Is Medicure the next GW Pharmaceuticals? After GW Pharmaceuticals received FDA approval for Epidiolex, it was acquired for $7.2 billion!
