Greenland and Labrador Were Once Connected

Greenland and Labrador were once physically connected, forming part of the same ancient craton containing some of the oldest preserved crust on Earth… rocks dating back over 3.5 billion years.

During that time, the area now hosting Critical Metals (CRML)’s Tanbreez Project in Greenland would have been directly adjacent to what is now Saga Metals’ (TSXV: SAGA) Wolverine Project in Labrador.

This geological linkage is important because both projects are associated with peralkaline intrusive complexes, a rare and highly prospective host for rare earth mineralization. The similarities between CRML‘s Tanbreez and SAGA‘s Wolverine are therefore not coincidental… they are rooted in shared geological origins.

Early drilling at Wolverine in 2025 intersected ≥0.20% TREO in 19 of 25 holes, demonstrating broad mineralization across the system. While some holes, such as WOLRC25-023 (0.19% TREO), were categorized as “misses,” the cross-sectional model suggests the system remains open at depth. In several cases, mineralization appears to strengthen with depth, indicating that follow-up drilling could be critical in defining higher-grade zones.

Notably, the first drill hole (WOLRC25-001) returned 30.5m of 0.49% TREO and ended in stronger mineralization, suggesting it was not drilled to its full extent. This is often one of the most important early indicators in a new potentially world-class discovery… mineralization that remains open rather than fully constrained.

Unlike Greenland-based projects, Labrador offers a stable and mining-friendly jurisdiction, removing a major layer of geopolitical uncertainty that currently impacts assets like Tanbreez and Kvanefjeld.

At its core, the investment case for SAGA is straightforward:

  • Exposure to a rare peralkaline REE system
  • Geological parallels to one of the world’s most discussed REE projects (Tanbreez)
  • Early drilling that indicates a large, open system with upside at depth
  • Location in a top-tier jurisdiction

The key catalysts going forward will be deeper drilling results, expansion of known mineralization, and ultimately a maiden resource estimate.

We are aware of no other publicly traded companies with a market cap as low as SAGA that has achieved any kind of significant discovery of REEs like at the Wolverine Project.

We 100% believe President Trump will finalize a deal for Greenland after his meeting with President Xi in China next month, and it will result in Energy Transition Minerals (ASX: ETM) being revalued from $0.069 per share up to the $1–$2 per share range… but it is still an ongoing situation and not guaranteed. With SAGA we don’t need to worry about geopolitical developments because Labrador is a much better mining jurisdiction than Greenland!
