Newmont Pays Barrick Billions to Add Fourmile to Nevada Gold Mines Joint Venture, Westward Gold Perfectly Positioned to Capitalize
Newmont (NEM) today agreed to pay Barrick (B) $1.95 billion in cash to add Fourmile to the Nevada Gold Mines Joint Venture, which is 38.5% owned by Newmont and 61.5% owned by Barrick. This transaction valued Fourmile at only US$5.065 billion when analysts estimate Fourmile to be worth $10-$20 billion. Because of this, Newmont gained by 3.79% today vs. Barrick declining by 6.45%. Based on the market reaction, we can pretty much infer a market value for Fourmile of $15 billion. Today’s settlement gives Barrick the greenlight for its North American IPO before year-end, which will make Fourmile a household name across America.
Westward Gold (CSE: WG) has a market cap here at $0.185 per share of only US$31.21 million when their SSD Zone is directly adjacent to Fourmile with the same geophysical signatures. WG already knows for a fact that high-grade gold exists in the SSD Zone near the same depths as where Barrick discovered Fourmile. They have spent the last three years completing extensive multi-disciplinary groundwork, including systematic 1:5000 scale Anaconda-style surface mapping, re-logging of thousands of meters of historical core and RC chips, and a 468-meter surface trenching program that exposed high-angle faults and returned high-grade assays up to 17.90 g/t Au. WG has also done airborne magnetic, gravity, and CSAMT geophysical surveys alongside surface geochemistry and 3D geological modeling to target high-priority extensions at depth and figure out where it is likely that enough high-grade gold has pooled together in the same spot to form a Fourmile-like high-grade gold deposit.
